Spanish for Heritage Learners 363

This course, in conjunction with Spanish for Heritage Learners 463, is designed for Heritage learners to maintain and develop advanced language skills. Although listening and speaking skills will be fine-tuned, emphasis is placed on reading and writing while strengthening student’s individual literacy skills. Students will be able to show adequate control of language in their writing, and be able to infer and analyze the meaning in written texts. Unit themes focus on the development of personal identity as well as social, historical and cultural awareness of Spanish speaking countries. Literature of all genres will be studied, namely: short story, essay, novel, poetry and theater. Current events throughout the Spanish speaking world based on unit themes are also introduced and discussed.

Prerequisite:

  • Placement by the Instructional Supervisor for World Languages through staff recommendations.
