Marketing 161

Students explore principles of marketing concepts, strategies, and plans with an emphasis on sports. Students learn components of the marketing mix, target marketing, sponsorship, event marketing, promotions, proposals, and execution of planning through decision-making, critical-thinking, and collaborative skills. Projects include creating commercials, designing NASCAR race cars, and creating marketing pitches. In addition, guest speakers and case studies are utilized. Students experience field trips to the United Center, Toyota Park, and Wrigley Field. The course culminates in the design and creation of a sports franchise portfolio including a marketing plan, uniform/t-shirts, business cards, posters, bumper stickers, and other necessary activities for your team.
